Managers Paul Sturrock and Aidy Boothroyd were both satisfied after Plymouth and Watford shared a 1-1 draw at Home Park.
Argyle took a 34th-minute lead when Wales striker Jermaine Easter sent a 20-yard angled drive past Watford keeper Richard Lee after breaking well down the right flank and cutting in following a one-two with target man Rory Fallon.
Watford restored parity three minutes later when Fallon was adjudged to have handled trying to stop a buzzing Hornets attack on the edge of the penalty area.
Lee Williamson, recalled in the absence of suspended Watford skipper John Eustace, curled a 20-yard free kick into the top corner that gave recalled Plymouth keeper Luke McCormick no chance.
Both sides had chances to score more with fit-again Plymouth skipper Paul Wotton zipping long-range shots just off target at the start of both halves and Collins John was denied by a superb McCormick save.
Argyle were reduced to 10 men in the 68th minute when Hungarian winger Peter Halmosi received his second caution for a foul on left back Matthew Sadler.
Pilgrims boss Sturrock praised his team whose attacking options were hampered by the red card said.
Sturrock said: "Jermaine took his goal well. I have been having a wee word with him about his finishing and he really scored a very good goal today.
"We still went with two forwards even when we went down to 10 men because obviously at this juncture of the season we have still got to try and win football games.
"It made if difficult for us to push on because in the last 20 minutes I was expecting a wee flourish from us if we had been able to stay with 11 on but having one sent off knocked us sideways.
"We had to change our system and take a winger off but strangely enough we still got up the football pitch, which was quite pleasing but in the end a draw was a fair result on the whole game."
Watford almost snatched a win in stoppage time when Danny Shittu's header was brilliantly cleared off the line by Argyle sub Jim Paterson.
Boothroyd said: "You cannot accuse us of not going for it and but for a fantastic late clearance off the line we would have taken all three points.
"The weather spoiled it today. It was like a hurricane out there, and there was a swirling wind throughout which made if difficult for both sides.
"I think it's definitely a point gained although we are disappointed not win especially as we were left playing against 10 men with a number of minutes.
"I was disappointed about the goal we conceded we thought there was a hint of offside about it, although we haven't seen it again. With the pace at the back we have we should not have been caught out like that.
