Bilic wary of wounded Scots

Bilic wary of wounded Scots March 25 2008

Croatia coach Slaven Bilic believes his charges will still face a tough task against Scotland on Wednesday despite their loss of players.

Barry Ferguson, James McFadden, Barry Robson, Christian Dailly, Stephen Pearson, Lee McCulloch and Allan McGregor have all withdrawn from the squad, leaving new boss George Burley with a number of selection posers.

But Bilic believes the Hampden Park outfit will still prove a handful and feels that the need to impress their new manager will bring out the best in the Scots.

He told Sky Sports News: "It's a big blow for any national team when they are missing seven players, including Scotland.

"I don't think it makes it any less of a test because they have enough quality players to play at the highest level. The new players are going to be motivated.

"They're going to do as much as possible to get another chance. They have a new manager as well, so it's going to be a very, very tough game and a big test for us.

"It's the reason why we chose Scotland. We didn't choose it for the weather.

"Scotland are going to have players missing, but the ones who'll play, they might not be the big names, but they will be fully motivated."
