Chelsea defender John Terry has admitted he has faced an anxious wait to discover who England coach Fabio Capello will name as his next captain.
The Blues skipper, who was given the armband full-time by his previous international manager Steve McClaren, was unavailable for the Italian's first match in charge against Switzerland last month.
On that occasion Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard was given the honour but Capello has already stated he wants to try out a few candidates before making a final decision.
Terry is in the squad for Wednesday's friendly against France and is on tenterhooks over who Capello will choose to lead out the side in Paris.
"I want to keep the armband and keep captaining my country," Terry told the Daily Mirror.
"I'm very nervous about Mr Capello's decision but I will respect whatever it is."
