Scunthorpe have issued a hands-off warning to Burnley following their transfer approach for top scorer Martin Paterson.
Burnley boss Owen Coyle has spoken of his desire to bring the Northern Ireland international to Turf Moor after the Iron's relegation to League One.
However acting Iron chairman Rex Garton has revealed they are yet to receive a bid for the 14-goal striker - but admits there has been a discussion between the clubs.
Garton told the Burnley Express: "We are trying to build a squad for next season - not dismantle one.
"Yes, our chairman Steve Wharton has received a telephone call from a representative at Burnley, but to the best of my knowledge, we have received no written offer from Burnley for him.
"We have made it clear that we do not want to sell Martin Paterson."
