Inter Milan issue Hleb denial

Inter Milan issue Hleb denial March 19 2008

Internazionale have firmly denied claims that they made an illegal approach for Alexander Hleb.

The alleged incident apparently happened prior to Arsenal's Champions League last-16 clash against Inter's city rivals AC Milan a fortnight back.

According to the reports, the Belarus international held secret talks with Nerazzurri officials.

It was also claimed that the Gunners had reported the matter to UEFA.

However, the Serie A champions have rejected rumours that they 'tapped up' Hleb.

The club's press release read: "With regard to yesterday's report in La Stampa newspaper and today's articles in the British press, carried also by Italian news agencies, F.C. Internazionale denies having met with the player Alexander Hleb, and has received no letter of complaint from Arsenal."
