Is Amauri bound for the Bridge?

Amauri reveals Blues interest March 11 2008

Palermo's highly-rated striker Amauri claims Chelsea contacted his agent over a possible move to the English capital.

The 27-year-old Brazilian is believed to have caught the eye of a number of clubs across Europe and Liverpool, Manchester United, Barcelona and Villarreal have also been linked his services.

But Amauri, who joined Palermo in 2006, has now revealed his agent has already been contacted by Chelsea.

"Chelsea spoke to my agent," he told Rie Sport.

"My season has gone very well so far and my main objective is to continue playing well for Palermo until the end of the season."

However, if the Blues are to make a bid for Amauri they will be forced to meet the Sicilian club's £19million valuation.

Club president Maurizio Zamparini recently placed the price tag on the forward and he claims he has already turned down approaches from Barcelona and Villarreal because the Spanish clubs did not meet the valuation.

"I received two offers of £17m from Villarreal and Barcelona, but turned them down, saying that the player will not go for less than £19m," he added.
