Reports emanating from Spain claim that Chelsea have had a bid rejected for Liverpool striker Fernando Torres.
According to Radio Marca, Stamford Bridge owner Roman Abramovich tabled a £40million offer for the Spain international.
The Reds quashed the bid as soon as it was received as they see Torres as indispensable to the club.
It is also believed that Blues manager Avram Grant made his intentions known to the former Atletico Madrid star through his friendship with fellow countryman and Torres' team-mate, Yossi Benayoun.
However, the Spaniard is more than happy with life on Merseyside and is keen to build on his impressive first season at Anfield.
