Portsmouth will open contract talks with Linvoy Primus in the near future as his current deal expires in the summer.
The 34-year-old defender has not featured for the south coast club this season due to a persistent knee injury.
His future has been in the balance for some time as Primus has not been offered new terms, but Pompey chief executive Peter Storrie has revealed the club are planning to "look after" the player.
Storrie told The News: "We will be looking at the players who are out of contract at some point over the next few weeks.
"We will certainly look after Linvoy - he has been a great servant to the club and we will be sitting down with him as and when the time is right.
"Linvoy is certainly one who deserves to remain with the club. We haven't met with anybody regarding new contracts yet, but my personal opinion is he is one player we will definitely support as a club."
