Preview: Birmingham v Newcastle March 14 2008

Striker Mark Viduka could return to spearhead Newcastle's bid for Premier League safety at Birmingham on Monday evening.

The 32-year-old Australian has not started a league game since January 2 because of a combination of calf and hamstring injuries, and will be joined by Joey Barton after he missed last weekend's trip to Liverpool.

However, midfielder James Milner is likely to be sidelined for three weeks with the foot injury he suffered at Anfield, while Shay Given (groin), Emre (calf) and Stephen Carr (hamstring) are still missing.

Birmingham defender Martin Taylor will serve the third game of a three-match ban for his sending off against Arsenal.

The former Blackburn player is then pencilled in to play for the reserves against Tottenham on Tuesday evening.

Blues manager Alex McLeish has no fresh injury worries as his side look to repeat the performance in their last home game, when they demolished Spurs 4-1.

Cameron Jerome suffered a toe injury before the midweek game at Portsmouth, but was able to come on as a substitute after taking painkillers.
