Diatta bolsters Magpies' backline March 07 2008
Newcastle United have confirmed the signing of Senegal defender Lamine Diatta.
The Magpies have been locked in talks with the powerful African stopper since last month after he impressed while on trial.
Diatta, was available on a free transfer after leaving Turkish club Besiktas, and he has now signed on a deal until the end of the season.
Manager Kevin Keegan welcomed Diatta's arrival as he looks to improve the club's defensive record.
"We have not got much cover if we pick up any more injuries to our defenders, and Diatta will provide this," said Keegan.
