Curbishley: No United favours

Curbishley: No United favours May 03 2008

West Ham manager Alan Curbishley insists he has no bias towards Manchester United and has slammed talk of favouring Sir Alex Ferguson's side as "ridiculous".

Curbishley's initial comments in a newspaper column sparked a war of words between the Hammers and London rivals Chelsea on Friday.

The 50-year-old had said it would be "an injustice if Manchester United did not win the title" which annoyed Blues boss Avram Grant who voiced his disappointment over the comments.

But far from distancing himself from his earlier remarks or claiming to be misquoted, Curbishley went on to clarify that it was ridiculous to suggest that he was biased towards United.

"I will raise a glass to whoever wins the title because they will have deserved it," he re-iterated.

"It is too ridiculous for words really. If I am supposed to be biased in favour of Manchester United, how come we've beaten them the last three times we've played them?

"United can expect no favours from us."
