Foster still expects loan spell

Foster still expects loan spell March 17 2008

Ben Foster believes he will still be loaned out by Manchester United despite being handed his debut against Derby on Sunday.

The Red Devils were without their first-choice goalkeepers as Edwin van der Sar missed the clash through injury and Tomasz Kuszczak was suspended.

Sir Alex Ferguson awarded Foster his United bow between the sticks and the 24-year-old put in a solid performance.

But he is not getting ahead of himself and understands he will not be the number one stopper at Old Trafford anytime soon.

He said: "I've only been back from injury two weeks and I was delighted to get the game, but I'm not looking to overtake the other guys.

"If I was Edwin van der Sar or Tomasz Kuszczak and I was being kept out of the team I'd be very disappointed.

"I don't expect to be in the team. I may have to go out on loan for the rest of the season to play some games and then maybe next season it will be a different story."
