Valeri Bojinov continued his comeback from a season-long knee injury by playing for an hour in Manchester City's reserve win over Sunderland.
The Bulgarian international - a £5.75million signing from Fiorentina - played and scored in his first game since August last week at Liverpool, and is stepping up his bid for a return to senior action before the end of the season.
City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson watched the match, won with a Nery Castillo goal, but it was Bojinov's continued comeback that pleased reserve coach Ian Miller, who said: "It was good for Valeri to come through another hour of competitive football, he did well."
