Santa Cruz: Staying put

Santa Cruz cools transfer talk May 02 2008

Prolific Blackburn hitman Roque Santa Cruz has quashed reports suggesting he is keen on a move away from Ewood Park.

The Paraguay international has enjoyed an incredible debut season in the Premier League, netting 17 goals thus far in Rovers' campaign.

One of those strikes was the opener against Manchester United - the club he is being heavily linked with - in the 1-1 draw on April 19.

But the former Bayern Munich ace denies any links with the defending champions and insists he is not eyeing a transfer anytime soon.

Santa Cruz told an Asuncion radio staion: "If I have to be transferred I expect it to be inside England because I would like to stay in this country.

"To tell you the truth I'm not thinking about leaving Blackburn Rovers.

"I know about the interest from Manchester United after what has been said in the press but nobody has spoken with me about that."
