Trotters hit by Davies blow

Bolton striker Kevin Davies is likely to miss the rest of the season after suffering a broken hand during the win over West Ham last Saturday.

The former England Under-21 international initially believed he had just fractured a finger, but scans later confirmed he had in fact broken his hand in three places.

Davies would have been suspended for two of the Trotters' last four matches in any event, but coupled with his broken hand, he will miss the remainder of the season.

The loss of the former Southampton forward is a massive blow for boss Gary Megson, as his side look to stave off relegation.

Davies told Sky Sports: "I've got three fractures and I had an operation on Tuesday.

"Whether I've got a chance of getting back for the last two games is doubtful, but hopefully it heals quickly.

"I'll have it rescanned before we play Sunderland at home and maybe I could play with a cast on."
