Collymore joins Legends squad May 01 2008

England Legends manager Peter Reid has announced that Stan Collymore will join Les Ferdinand in spearheading his country's attack against Scotland Legends St. Mary's.

The former Liverpool, Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa striker becomes the tenth member of Reid's squad who will look to retain The Alan Ball Memorial Cup to be screened live on ITV4 on Thursday May 15 at 7.45pm.

He joins Ferdinand, Bryan Robson, Paul Merson, Ray Parlour, Nigel Winterburn, Mark Wright, Des Walker, Paul Parker and Chris Woods.

Collymore commented: "I can't wait to team with up with Les. With Robbo and Merse behind me, and Des and Mark Wright patrolling the back, that's an incredible England spine.

"The England Legends is a new, exciting addition to the football calendar and really does give the nation a team to get behind in a summer where there'll be no home nation representatives at Euro 2008.

"I just hope we can put a smile back on England supporters' faces and lift The Alan Ball Memorial Cup in memory of the great man."

On his latest addition, Reid confirmed: "The pairing of Ferdinand and Collymore must really concern (Scotland Legends Manager) Graeme Souness.

"Collymore and Ferdinand are two of the most feared centre forwards in Legends football. Both have an eye for the spectacular and will keep the Scottish backline guessing at all times."

The Alan Ball Memorial Cup kicks off ITV4's summer of football. The England Legends will also play teams from Ireland, on Thursday July 3, and Germany on, Thursday August 7.
