England Legends coming to ITV4

England Legends coming to ITV4 April 22 2008

ITV have announced they have signed the 2008 England Legends Series to ITV4.

The 2008 Legend Series will see a squad of all-time England football greats play three international matches over the summer against legends sides from Scotland, Ireland and Germany.

The first match will be the Alan Ball Memorial Cup: England Legends v Scotland Legends at St Mary's on Thursday, May 15.

ITV4 will broadcast the games live and exclusive in the UK with the action simulcast on itv.com.

Accompanying the live matches will be three documentaries - one ahead of each game - building up to the main events.

Coverage will be produced and presented by ITV Sport in conjunction with organisers, Toast Events.

The 2008 Legends Series marks the fifth, sixth and seventh time the England Legends have faced international opposition - having previously beaten a Rest of the World side in 2007, lost and drawn against Italy in 2007 and 2004 and defeated by Germany in 2006.

The England Legends 2008 squad will be managed by former Three Lions international Peter Reid.

Dave Fewings, ITV4 Channel Editor, said: "In a summer with no domestic involvement in Euro 2008, the England legends series will be a fantastic opportunity for fans to cheer on some of the biggest stars ever to wear an England shirt as they return to the pitch and play what should be three hugely competitive and entertaining fixtures."

Further squad announcements will be made in the lead up to the first game on May 15.
