Weir sweating over scan results

Weir sweating over scan results April 28 2008

Rangers defender David Weir is waiting on the results of a scan on a groin injury to determine if he will be available for Thursday's UEFA Cup semi-final second leg against Fiorentina in Florence.

The 37-year-old hobbled off just after half time in yesterday 3-2 defeat by Celtic at Parkhead and the Ibrox medical team sent him to hospital to be checked.

While Weir must be considered doubtful for the trip to Italy, midfielder Steven Davis' groin injury, also picked up against Celtic, is not as bad as first feared.

However, the Northern Ireland international will be monitored over the next couple of days.

Charlie Adam, meanwhile, is seeing a consultant tonight about his injured knee while DaMarcus Beasley has moved up a level in his training, although he is not yet in full training with the rest of the squad.
