Rangers are missing several key players for their UEFA Cup semi-final, first-leg clash with Fiorentina at Ibrox on Thursday night.
Skipper Barry Ferguson and fellow midfielder Kevin Thomson are both ruled out of the home tie through suspension, but veteran defender David Weir returns from a one-match ban.
Manager Walter Smith will also be without goalkeeper Allan McGregor due to an ankle injury so Neil Alexander will deputise in goal which sees him make his first European appearance for the Glasgow giants.
Other absentees include Andy Webster, Charlie Adam and DaMarcus Beasley (all knee injuries), Lee McCulloch (foot), Chris Burke and Steven Naismith, who suffered knee and ankle injuries respectively in the Scottish Cup semi-final win over St Johnstone.
But Smith welcomes back striker Kris Boyd, who has recovered from a bout of food poisoning.
Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli will be hoping for a confident performance from his charges as they look to stay in the tie ahead of next week's second leg in Florence.
But Viola have three key players on yellow cards in Tomas Ujfalusi, Riccardo Montolivo and Adrian Mutu, who are all one booking away from missing the return leg on home soil.
Ujfalusi was originally expected to miss the clash in Glasgow with a thigh injury but is making progress and Prandelli will give the Czech defender every chance to prove his fitness.
Rangers squad: Alexander, Broadfoot, Cuellar, Weir, Papac, Dailly, Whittaker, Davis, Hemdani, Novo, Darcheville, G Smith, Buffel, Cousin, Boyd, S Smith, Gow, Furman.
