Cesare Prandelli believes Fiorentina will measure themselves "against one of the best teams in Europe" when they face Everton in the last 16 of the UEFA Cup.
The Italians, much like their opponents, are having an excellent season and are challenging in Serie A for a Champions League place.
"I am very curious to see how we fare. This game is going to be very difficult and we are going to have to keep our concentration," he said.
"They are a team who play good football but are also physical. They play the ball well both on the floor and in the air and are very well organised.
"But if you go out with the thought of defending, then you lose.
"We have got to have the same attitude as in recent games and if it looks like we are defending, then that is because the opponent is forcing us onto the back foot."
Defender Per Kroldrup faces his former side, having spent six unsuccessful months on Merseyside in 2005.
The Dane never played alongside current strikers Andrew Johnson and Ayegbeni Yakubu but warned of the dangers of two players he does know a little better, Tim Cahill and Mikel Arteta.
"Cahill is excellent when he manages to get in behind the defence. He is clever and you have always got to be careful when he is near your goal," said the player, who made just two first team appearances after joining from Udinese .
"Arteta is one who can make a difference but my memories of them is that they are a strong squad collectively. They are very well organised and work on tactics in training more than any other English club."
