Wolves 0 West Brom 1 April 15 2008

Zoltan Gera's clinical finish saw West Brom return to the summit in a thrilling 1-0 Black Country derby win over Wolves at Molineux on Tuesday.

The victory saw the Baggies regain top spot in the Championship with three games left.

Gera had seen a header smack against the woodwork in a breathless opening 45 minutes but made no mistake in the 59th minute.

A quick ball forward caught the Wolves defence square and after Kevin Phillips had skipped over the challenge of Neill Collins, he was able to slide a ball across the six-yard box to Gera who side-footed home unmarked.

Albion are now two points clear of Hull, while Mick McCarthy's Wolves - who matched their opponents for most of the game - are not yet out of the play-off picture. They stay eighth, three points behind sixth-placed Crystal Palace with a game in hand.
