Sheffield Wednesday 1 Plymouth 1 April 14 2008

A spectacular strike from Tommy Spurr lifted Sheffield Wednesday out of the Championship relegation zone after a 1-1 draw with Plymouth.

Full-back Spurr smashed in a precious goal from long range 10 minutes from time just as it looked as if the Pilgrims would consign the Owls to a costly defeat.

Brian Laws' side remain deep in the mire though after being held to a seventh consecutive draw by Argyle.

A wickedly-deflected free-kick from Peter Halmosi in the second minute stunned Hillsborough into silence and the visitors looked set for three points until Spurr's stunning late leveller.

The result leaves Paul Sturrock's team 10th in the table, five points off sixth-placed Crystal Palace while elevating Wednesday two places into 20th, with Leicester dropping into the bottom three and Coventry dropping a place to 21st.
