Plymouth Argyle clung on after Peter Halmosi's red card to claim a 1-1 draw at home to fellow Championship promotion chasers Watford.

Halmosi made life difficult for play-off hopefuls Argyle with his 68th-minute dismissal after a second booking, but Paul Sturrock's side held on for a point at Home Park on Saturday.

Lee Williamson's superb free-kick pulled Watford level on 37 minutes, just three minutes after Jermaine Easter's seasonal goal had given the Pilgrims a first-half lead.

Despite playing through an agonising 10 minutes of added time, Argyle stayed resilient to bank what could prove a crucial point.

The result leaves Sturrock's men in sixth, level on points with seventh-placed Ipswich who have a game in hand. The Hornets slip to fourth, but are only three points behind leaders Stoke and they also have a game in hand.
