Jamie Cureton hit a hat-trick against his former club as the Canaries eased their relegation fears with a superb 5-1 win over Colchester.

Norwich took the lead after six minutes with their first real attack.

Full-back Jon Otsemobor stunned Colchester with a superb run which saw him beat three defenders before drilling the ball past keeper Dean Gerken.

Norwich doubled their advantage nine minutes before half-time - Darren Huckerby finding Cureton, who volleyed in from six yards.

Kevin Lisbie gave the visitors hope with a fine individual goal on 41 minutes.

City restored their two-goal cushion on 52 minutes when Matty Pattison was fouled in the area by Phil Ifil and Cureton netted his second from the spot.

Cureton steered the ball home from 12 yards three minutes from time for his hat-trick before Dion Dublin struck in injury time.
