Manchester City 0 Everton 2 February 25 2008

Everton striker Aiyegbeni Yakubu took his tally for the season to 16 goals to keep the club's UEFA Champions League dream alive.

The visitors made a bright start and had claims for a penalty turned down when Tim Cahill's shot was blocked by Micah Richards' elbow.

And the Toffees were unfortunate not to take the lead in the 28th minute when Steven Pienaar curled a shot off the frame of the goal.

But they were soon celebrating when Tim Cahill crossed and Yakubu fired home from close range after 30 minutes.

Eight minutes later it was 2-0 when Lee Carsley's deep cross picked out Joleon Lescott, who headed back across goal and into the corner.

David Moyes' side could have scored more after the break but for the brilliance of Joe Hart, while City's miserable night was completed when Martin Petrov was sent off for kicking out at Leon Osman.
