Fulham 2 Aston Villa 1 February 03 2008

Jimmy Bullard scored a late winner to earn relegation-haunted Fulham a vital 2-1 Premier League victory against Aston Villa at Craven Cottage.

Bullard, who spent 16 months out with a knee injury, scored a superb free-kick four minutes from time to give Roy Hodgson his first win since replacing Lawrie Sanchez as manager.

Aaron Hughes had scored an own goal, diverting John Carew's flick from a Shaun Maloney corner past Antti Niemi, to put Villa in front in the 68th minute. The lead lasted only five minutes as Bullard provided the cross for Simon Davies to flick the home side level before Bullard himself curled home the winner with a set piece from 25 yards.

Villa were hampered by the loss of Gabriel Agbonlahor through injury at half-time - the striker may now be forced to withdraw from the England squad to face Switzerland on Wednesday.
