Emanuel Villa scored his first goal for Derby to rescue a 1-1 draw at Birmingham, who join the Rams in the Premier League drop zone.
Olivier Kapo and James McFadden were both off target with close-range headers in the first half.
Blues had a let off in the 53rd minute when Kenny Miller's shot beat the dive of Maik Taylor and struck the post.
Robert Earnshaw followed up to also hit the woodwork but this effort would have been ruled out for offside had it gone in.
Then after 68 minutes Sebastian Larsson finally broke the deadlock with his third goal of the campaign.
David Murphy pumped a cross to the far post, Larsson outjumped Marc Edworthy and was first to react in driving a low shot past Roy Carroll into the roof of the net.
But with a minute to go, Villa's glancing header from Dean Leacock's centre earned County a point.
