Peter Crouch rescued a Premier League point for Liverpool with a late goal at Anfield in a 2-2 draw with Aston Villa on Monday night.
The home side opened the scoring in the 19th minute when Dirk Kuyt played in Yossi Benayoun - the Israeli midfielder saw his shot blocked by Curtis Davies but was on hand to slide home the rebound from eight yards.
Villa equalised in the 69th minute through substitute Marlon Harewood when Stiliyan Petrov's free-kick found the head of Martin Laursen at the back post and Harewood sent a superb overhead kick past Reina from eight yards out.
It was 2-1 to Villa three minutes later when Mellberg's volley back across goal hit the hand of Aurelio and flew past Reina.
Rafa Benitez threw on Crouch in search of an equaliser, and the big man delivered the goods with a well taken volley with two minutes to go.
