Superb strikes in either half from Juliano Belletti and Shaun Wright-Phillips earned Chelsea a 2-0 derby win over Tottenham at Stamford Bridge.
Spurs started brightly but it was the Blues who took the lead in the 19th minute through a belter from Belletti.
The Brazilian full-back picked up the ball midway in the opponents' half and was allowed to advance on goal before sending an unstoppage 30-yard drive into the roof of Radek Cerny's net.
The west Londoners continued to have the better of the game and Michael Ballack had a goal ruled out for offside just before half time.
And newboy Nicolas Anelka also came close to adding a second moments after replacing Claudio Pizarro in the 58th minute, with Cerny pulling off a fine one-handed save to keep out his smart volley.
Wright-Phillips wrapped up the victory with a low 20-yard effort in the 80th minute but Anelka still had time to hit the crossbar following a late mistake by Michael Dawson.
