Bolton 1 Derby 0 January 02 2008

Bolton got off to a winning start in 2008 in what may be Nicolas Anelka's last game for the club as they beat Derby.

The visitors squandered a great chance to take the lead early on when Craig Fagan was denied by Jussi Jaaskelainen.

Kevin Davies saw a header flick the outside of the post while Kevin Nolan volleyed just over after good work by Anelka.

The Rams were unlucky not to take the lead five minutes before the break when Michael Johnson's 25-yard curler struck the crossbar - and moments later Gary Teale's cross was headed goalwards by Fagan but the ball shaved the post.

Just when it looked as if Derby were going to hang on to a point a long clearance through the middle in injury time found Stelios who lobbed the ball over the advancing Price and raced through on goal to head into the empty net
