Juande Ramos continued his knack of inspired substitutions as Darren Bent and Jamie O'Hara helped Tottenham beat Portsmouth 2-0.
Bent and O'Hara - both on as 70th-minute substitutes - helped turn the game in Tottenham's favour after they grabbed a goal apiece inside 100 seconds of one another.
The breakthrough eventually arrived after 80 minutes when Bent tucked home a header from six yards after he lunged at Dimitar Berbatov's mis-hot volley, while O'Hara netted two minutes later, poking into an empty net after Bent had rounded Hermann Hreidarsson and drawn David James.
Spurs had the best of the game before that, with Berbatov seeing a goal ruled out for offside and Michael Dawson hitting the bar, while for Pompey a header from Kanu and a chip from Sean Davis - which was brilliantly saved by Paul Robinson - was as close as they came.
