Mark Viduka netted a brace as Middlesbrough all but ended their relegation fears with a 4-1 win over doomed Watford on Saturday.
Boro took an early fifth-minute lead when Stewart Downing headed down for Viduka to stab the ball past the helpless Ben Foster.
However, the Hornets were back in the game on 22 minutes when Danny Shittu headed a long ball across goal for Damien Francis to smash a volley past Mark Schwarzer.
But the visitors were on level terms for just three minutes as George Boateng's shot was deflected past Foster by the unwitting Chris Riggott.
The Teessiders added a third when Aiyegbeni Yakubu took a throw in and Viduka netted with a right-footed shot from 12 yards out.
The Australian then played in Brazilian midfielder Fabio Rochemback, who slid the ball past Foster to add a fourth for Gareth Southgate's men.
