Georgios Samaras provided the perfect answer to his detractors as he gave Manchester City a late Carling Cup win over Norwich.
The Greek forward finished off Kelvin Etuhu's superb throughball to ensure the Premier League high-flyers overcame a determined Canaries side who scrapped throughout but never really looked like causing a shock.
After a below-par first-half which saw Michael Ball's effort clawed away by David Marshall and a 20-yard Jon Otsemobor free-kick well saved by Joe Hart, Samaras set the tone for a more exciting second half by firing an early chance wide.
Lee Croft then wasted a good opening for the Canaries before Rolando Bianchi was also off target with a snap-shot, and with extra-time looming, Samaras raced through with just two minutes left to bag the winner for City.
