Frank Lampard's controversial penalty denied Liverpool victory as Chelsea played out a draw in an entertaining clash at Anfield.

Lampard slotted home in the 62nd minute after referee Rob Styles had awarded the Blues a spot-kick following Steve Finnan's innocuous challenge on Florent Malouda. Not one of Chelsea's players even appealed, but Lampard was not one to look a gifthorse in the mouth as he sent Jose Reina the wrong way from the spot.

The draw was a little harsh on Rafael Benitez's side, who had taken a 16th-minute lead through a brilliant Fernando Torres goal. The Spaniard picked up Steven Gerrard's raking pass to outpace Tal Ben Haim and slot a well-placed effort past Petr Cech and in off the post.

John Arne Riise, Dirk Kuyt and Ryan Babel all came close to winning it for Liverpool, but Chelsea held on for a valuable draw.
