Robbie Fowler failed to score on his Anfield farewell, but Liverpool snatched third in the Premiership after a draw with Charlton.
The chanting to honour the Reds striker was silenced in the second minute when the visitors took the lead through Matt Holland.
Zheng Zhi got the ball in from the right and Holland saw a stabbed shot clip Javier Mascherano, with young goalkeeper Daniele Padelli beaten by the effort.
The hosts equalised when Harry Kewell crossed from the left, Dirk Kuyt headed down and Xavi Alonso almost leisurely hooked the ball home from 10 yards.
But the Addicks regained the lead 10 minutes later when Ben Thatcher's shot was saved by Padelli only for Darren Bent to follow up to make it 2-1.
However, Madjid Bougherra handled in the box in the final minute and with Fowler having been taken off, Kewell stepped up to score from the spot.
