Chelsea will face Manchester United in the FA Cup final after they saw off Blackburn's challenge at Old Trafford.
Chelsea had the better of the first half with Frank Lampard's 21st goal of the season after 16 minutes sending them into the half-time lead. Lampard picked up Michael Ballack's pass, skipped round Ryan Nelsen and fired past Brad Friedel.
But Rovers dominated the second period and Jason Roberts' equaliser after 63 minutes when he turned in Morten Gamst Pedersen's free-kick set up a frantic finish. Pedersen saw a header hit a post, while another effort flew inches wide, while Petr Cech made a series of great saves as the game headed into extra time.
The winner came after 109 minutes when Shaun Wright-Phillips' cross caused panic and Ballack lashed home from 12 yards.
