Chelsea provided the perfect response to a week of speculation over the future of Jose Mourinho by destroying Wigan 4-0 at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues were in front on 13 minutes thanks to stand-in captain Frank Lampard - his 13th goal of the season.
The England midfielder's free-kick curled its way into the area and bounced into the back of the net.
The hosts were gifted a second on 62 minutes when Kristofer Haestad's back pass fell to Arjen Robben and he rounded the onrushing Chris Kirkland and slipped the ball into the unguarded net.
It was cruel blow for the Latics midfielder whose line of vision had been obscured by Fitz Hall as he was put under pressure by the frame of Didier Drogba.
It all went wrong for the Wigan goalkeeper when he scored an own goal in the 69th minute.
Robben crossed the ball low into the penalty area and it was turned into his own net by Kirkland.
Drogba completed the scoring in the 90th minute when he headed home a cross from Jon Obi Mikel for his 21st goal of the season.
