Bolton must try and conjure another of their UEFA Cup away-day specials after being held to a 1-1 draw at home to Sporting Lisbon on Thursday.

The odds of reaching the quarter-finals are now stacked heavily in favour of the Portuguese giants after Simon Vukcevic cracked a stunning equaliser on 69 minutes to cancel out Gavin McCann's first-half opener.

But Gary Megson's side cannot be discounted as they have produced some remarkable results on their travels, notably in Belgrade, Munich and Madrid.

The Trotters, in front of a crowd of 25,664, lost Jussi Jaaskelainen to injury in the warm-up but went ahead on 25 minutes when McCann sidefooted home from 14 yards after Matt Taylor's shot was blocked.

But in the second half, Leandro Romagnoli hit the bar for the visitors before Vukcevic crashed home a 20-yard equaliser.
