Premier League leaders Arsenal dropped two crucial points in the title race as struggling Wigan earned a deserved draw at the JJB Stadium.

Arsenal were quickly into their stride and carved out what turned out to be their best chance of the game after just 42 seconds when Emmanuel Adebayor forced Chris Kirkland into a low save after racing onto a through-ball.

Kirkland was called into action again in the 10th minute to tip Nicklas Bendtner's long-range shot around the post and the same player missed a great chance to put Arsenal ahead in the 16th minute when he went clean through only to miskick his shot.

Kirkland saved again from Adebayor three minutes after the interval but Wigan had chances to claim a shock win through Antoine Valencia's 25-yard drive and Jason Koumas' last-gasp goalward shot that struck Cesc Fabregas in the box.
