Barnsley 0 Cardiff 1 April 06 2008

Joe Ledley put Cardiff into the FA Cup final for the first time in 81 years as his volley saw Barnsley beaten 1-0 in the semi-final at Wembley.

The Bluebirds were soon on top and they put themselves in firm control after nine minutes when Ledley hooked home a fine 15-yard volley after Rob Kozluk's headed clearance sat up nicely.

The Tykes missed a number of chances before half-time with Dennis Souza and Istvan Ferenczi both heading wide but Cardiff should have gone 2-0 ahead in the 52nd minute when Gavin Rae headed Ledley's cross straight at Steele from the penalty spot.

However, Odejayi missed the chance of the match in the 66th minute when he fired wide from 12 yards after going completely clean through.

Barnsley's heads appeared to drop after that and Ledley's goal proved enough for Cardiff to set up a May 17 final against Portsmouth.
