Celtic 2 Hibernian 0 May 11 2008

Stephen McManus and Scott McDonald scored as Celtic beat Hibernian 2-0 to stretch their lead over Rangers at the SPL summit to four points.

The defending champions, who have one SPL game left against Dundee United at Tannadice, put the pressure back on their Old Firm rivals although the Gers have three games remaining.

After a good start by the visitors, McManus rose to power home a Shunsuke Nakamura corner after 36 minutes to ease the nerves.

With four minutes remaining, after Hibs defender Martin Canning was sent off after receiving the second of his two yellow cards, McDonald nodded home Barry Robson's free-kick.

There was time left for Hibs defender Ian Murray to be shown a straight red card for a wild foul on Aiden McGeady but by then the Leith outfit were down and out.

Mixu Paatelainen's side's defeat means Motherwell are guaranteed to finish third.
