Kris Boyd's leveller denied Partick Thistle a famous Scottish Cup upset as Rangers were held to a 1-1 draw at Ibrox in their quarter-final tie.

The best of the early chances fell to the Gers, but poor finishing seemed to let them down when Nacho Novo firing just wide from 25 yards out.

Boyd then threw himself in front of a Steven Naismith cross but his header sailed over the bar.

At the other end, Simon Donnelly was wasteful with a free-kick just outside the box, before Scott Chaplain drilled a long-range shot wide of Allan McGregor's post. McGregor then made a fine save to deny Damon Gray a shock opener for Thistle.

But Ibrox was stunned into silence on 67 minutes when Gary Harkins slid in Gray and he finished well.

But just two minutes later Boyd was on hand to stab home following a goalmouth scramble and earn Gers a replay.
